In-floor subwoofers are typically installed below the floor in the joist space. This type of installation encourages the use of an unfinished or dropped ceiling for service reasons. They can also be installed in a finished drywall ceiling.
POLK Audio CSW-100 Feature
The CSW-100 10 In-Floor and In-Ceiling Subwoofer from Polk Audio features a single 10-inch woofer and an MDF enclosure. This unit uses High-Velocity Compression Drive technology to deliver impressive bass output. It is compact, measuring just 26.2" long, 13" wide, and 9" deep. It fits easily between standard joist spacing and has a small 2" x 12" vented small 2" x 12" vent.
For larger spaces, two or more in-floor subwoofers should be used for a minimum of 500-750W of power. Two-CI-UTF 12LE in floor subwoofers are also required in large rooms. Two subwoofers will balance out the sound in an even manner.
